Last August 28, Western Leyte College proudly celebrated its ASEAN Culmination 2025 with a vibrant program that highlighted the rich cultures and shared identity of Southeast Asia. The day began with an ASEAN Fashion Show where teachers confidently wore traditional attire from various ASEAN countries, beautifully showcasing both the diversity and heritage of the region.

Around the campus, interactive booths brought ASEAN to life. The College of Education (COED) featured Vietnam, the College of Information and Communication Technology and Engineering (CICTE) showcased Cambodia, the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CONAHS) highlighted Singapore, the College of Accountancy and Business (COAB) introduced Indonesia, the School of Law and Political Science (PolSci) represented Laos, the Hospitality Management (HM) department presented Malaysia, while the Administration highlighted the Philippines and Thailand. Each booth offered students a fun and meaningful way to explore different cultures and traditions.

The excitement spilled over to the gymnasium with lively traditional games under the banner “Laro ng Lahi.” Students laughed and cheered during the Sack Race, Action Relay, Calamansi Relay, and other activities. Departments such as COED, PolSci, Nursing, and CONAHS all celebrated victories, filling the day with energy, unity, and teamwork.

In the afternoon, the festivities continued with the highly-anticipated ASEAN Quiz Bee, an educational and interactive event designed to raise awareness about the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The quiz bee drew enthusiastic participation from over 13 groups, each composed of three members representing various departments including CICTE, PolSci, CONAHS, COED, COAB, CHM, and the High School Department.

The quiz challenged participants with questions spanning ASEAN history, geography, economics, languages, and current affairs. Organizers highlighted that the competition was not only about testing knowledge but also about fostering stronger relationships and deeper understanding of ASEAN among the youth.

A thrilling final round saw top finalists compete in rapid-fire questions about ASEAN’s role in global diplomacy and cultural traditions from each member state. In the end, the College of Education team clinched the championship title, closely followed by teams from the School of Law and Political Science and Hospitality Management.

Western Leyte College’s ASEAN Culmination 2025 was a day filled with cultural appreciation, spirited competition, and a shared celebration of regional unity, inspiring students to embrace the values and vision of ASEAN.
