On May 6, 2024, Western Leyte College (WLC) took a significant step towards fostering collaboration and empowering its community by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the esteemed Wadwhani Foundation. This was a special event for it brought together important figures like Regional Director of SEA Wadhani Foundation: Lucrecio Delgado Jr, the Senior Associate Wadhwani Foundation for Visayas: Angelica Añabeza, Western Leyte College President: Emmanuel A. Fiel and Western Leyte College CICTE – Dean, Cheryl M. Tarre.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the event commenced with Cheryl M. Tarredelivering opening remarks that set the tone for the momentous occasion. Her words emphasized the importance of partnerships and the potential for transformative change through collaboration. Followed by Lucrecio Delgado Jr. who provided an insightful orientation, highlighting the Wadhwani Foundation and its vision. Wadhwani Foundation is focused on a simple mission which is providing create jobsand empowering families by enabling millions earn a family-sustaining wage and lead a dignified life. This vision centers around creating a society where every family member can sustain themselves, access quality education, and embrace entrepreneurship and innovation. Delgado Jr.’s introduction of this vision sparked enthusiasm and optimism within the audience, setting the stage for a fruitful partnership.
During the event, Mr. Delgado Jr. also elaborated on the various initiatives of the Wadwhani Foundation. These initiatives include entrepreneurship, skilling, innovation and research, and government digital transformation. Through these initiatives, the foundation aims to empower individuals and communities by equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Through the partnership of the Wadhwani Foundation and Western Leyte College, aspiring and practicing entrepreneurs can start, survive, and thrive through customized interventions. Startups and SMBs are supported to be funded. Capstone projects of the students can be commercialized.
As the most important moment of the event came, the official Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between WLC and the Wadwhani Foundation. This act was symbolic and represented the strong commitment and partnership between the two organizations. By formalizing their collaboration through the MOA, they made it clear that they are working together towards common goals. The MOA is a sign of their shared understanding to promote entrepreneurship and innovation within the WLC community.
The event concluded with Mr. Joscoro Cantero delivering his closing remarks, expressing profound gratitude for the agreement and partnership established between Western Leyte College (WLC) and the esteemed Wadwhani Foundation. Mr. Cantero emphasized the immense significance of this collaboration, highlighting its potential to empower individuals and drive positive change within the community. His closing remarks left a palpable sense of anticipation, envisioning the transformative impact that this partnership would undoubtedly bring. This program ended with the deepest gratitude for the Foundation’s belief in the school on their shared vision to make a difference and pave the way to innovations.
