WLC strengthens cybersecurity through institutional account audit

The College of ICT & Engineering (CICTE) of Western Leyte College of Ormoc City, Inc. has announced the permanent deletion of inactive institutional Google accounts as part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to strengthen data management, cybersecurity, and Google Workspace account maintenance.

According to a memorandum issued on July 9, 2026, all inactive @wlcormoc.edu.ph Google accounts assigned to former employees, inactive faculty and staff, inactive students, and graduates will be removed from the institution’s system. The initiative aims to ensure a more secure, efficient, and well-managed digital environment for the Western Leyte College community.

Affected account holders are advised to back up or transfer important files, emails, documents, photos, and other data stored in their institutional Google accounts before the scheduled deletion date on August 1, 2026. Once an account is deleted, all associated data will be permanently removed and can no longer be recovered.

The account cleanup initiative will also help optimize the institution’s Google Workspace resources. The ICT & Engineering Office noted that inactive accounts will be removed to prevent the school’s Google Workspace (G Suite) storage from being unnecessarily occupied by unused accounts and data, ensuring sufficient storage space for active users and essential academic operations.

Individuals whose accounts should remain active due to official school-related responsibilities or other valid reasons are encouraged to coordinate with the CICTE Office before the announced deadline for evaluation.

School officials emphasized that the move reflects Western Leyte College’s commitment to maintaining a secure, reliable, and sustainable digital learning environment for its students, faculty, staff, graduates, and stakeholders.

For inquiries and assistance regarding the account deletion process, concerned individuals may contact the CICTE Office or send an email to cicte@wlcormoc.edu.ph.

This advisory serves as a reminder for all affected account holders to secure their important files and information before the implementation of the account cleanup initiative.
